Overview

NetManage consists of a set of tools, applications, protocols, application programming interfaces, build environments and reference implementations that simplify and accelerate the creation of state of the art high performance 10GbE switching products. NetManage, however, is not currently targetted at general purpose L2 switching products that must support a full suite of legacy switching protocols. See ControlPoint for a description of a software offering that is better suited to this purpose.

NetManage is a client-server software framework for implementing turn-key networking appliances. NetManage splits the data and control planes so that there is system design flexibility built into the core of the software infrastructure.

Applications written to the NetManage API may be run on a processor local to the switching silicon, on a companion processor in a management blade in the same chassis, or any other processor with connectivity to the mangement network.

NetManage is desiged to be host operating system, vendor and switching silicon neutral, however, it is being developed, tested and deployed on Fulcrum Microsystems, Inc. silicon and reference designs.
